I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas A&M in May of 2006 with a major in Physics and minors in Math and Outdoor Education. After considering graduate school and careers in everything from engineering, to business, to education, I elected instead to move into the bed of my truck to travel and rock climb across the nation until I found a suitable place to call home. I landed in Salt Lake City for 14 years. Unable to leave my Utah desert totally behind, I moved to Durango, CO in summer of 2020.
I discovered that rock climbing was much more than just a hobby and has become more of a way of life. I really enjoy that it is not only a taxing sport, both physically and mentally, but it also gives me GREAT reasons to travel and has unleashed a long list of places that I must visit. I also pretend to be a musician in my spare time. I play the piano, guitar, and the harmonica and have been known to dabble in the bass, fiddle, accordion, drums, and any other instrument I can get my hands on.
Although I am a math and science nerd by heart, I also enjoy pursuing other subjects to keep both sides of my brain at least functional, if not dynamically involved. I have helped students with a wide variety of subjects from literature, social sciences, all levels of math, physics, chemistry and SAT/ACT prep classes. However, I can recognize that my thorough understanding of mathematics and the sciences means that I am the most helpful in these subjects.
I was lucky enough to be raised in a very proactive environment with lots of opportunities for a diverse, multi-sensual education. From my experience, I know that everyone learns best in different environments and from different stimuli. I know that everyone requires a unique approach and I do my best to help each individual student overcome any obstacles in his/her path.
